Buy, Sell, Trade / Free Simplex motor (or maybe whole bike?)
« on: November 29, 2014, 07:15:51 AM »
Got too old and infirm (back surgery, two new knees and over 70) to finish working on bike. Apart to upgrade to bigger engine. Got new Ambassador (Whizzer) wheels, originals in good shape) to add front and rear disk brakes. Predator engine has electric start. Mounting plate from Wayne.

Original engine turns over fine but missing key-way for points as far as I can tell. Crank case has been repaired sometime in past. No rust but some welding necessary on kick stand because I did not like the angle the bike sat at.

Was pretty decent looking bike but did not run. Original engine is complete including what I think is original exhaust.

Now the deal. I am looking for a 1960s American car. I will offer the engine as a fee to anyone who can find me a decent car I can drive away. No projects. I will not be able to pay more than $14,000 for the car as that is my mad money fund.

The cars that interest me the most  are 1966-67-69 Impala convertibles or wagons w/air, 1959 Impala 4 door sedan or wagon (also known as a Nomad), 1964 to 1969 Mustang Convertibles, 1963-1970 Cadillac Convertibles w/air. and there are others.

I would offer the entire bike if car needs to be transported from either coast to St. Louis Mo

Not desperate to sell as it has been setting in my basement for a couple years and not eating anything. Wish the right person could wind up with it who could appreciate it.

If interested give me a call 314-640-1020

Introductions / Re: so cal simplex owner here, needs help!

I went with Whizzer wheels I got straight from Whizzer. 2 front wheels and handle bars with throttle, brake levers and cable for a couple of hundred. Seems like they will work fine.

I tried the Worksman route but could not get them to help. If you find their part numbers please put them on this forum.

good luck

P.S. 6'4" 235

Congrats Grampa . ;)

Pete . :)

Not a bad price at all. I wish it had been available when I bought the starter kit for my harbor freight. One advantage with the starter kit is the higher output for the lights. Bad part is mounting a battery (room). Hanen't quite got that far yet.

we've used Glyptol paint our race engines for many years. As long as surface was clean never had a problem. Had a hard time trying to get it off even with continued boiling. Great stuff!

bought a new set of Ambassador wheels, fenders, handle bars, brakes, controls and cables from Whizzer for a little over 200. great to deal with. They took them off a new bike.

Their number is 877 944-9937.

Good luck

P.S. axels are the only problem being only 10mm, made spaces.

just looked at the title and it was titled by the engine number. I'll have to take the bike to the departmrnt of motor vehicle to get it changed first. thats going to e  while because I don't have a lot of time to work on it between now and March.

I'll put it back on at that time.

Sorry

I have talked to them and they say they don't. Has any body ordered a set from them? If so would you post the part numbers?

Thanks

Tom

Do I remember correctly that they changed tire size ratings from the outside diameter of the mounted tire to the inside of the rim where the tipe  mounts? ie 21" instead or 26". This was the case on my moped if I remember right (been a LOOOOONG time).

I'd like to change wheelsto a spoke wheel with disk drake (or drum) on back and add a front tire with brake so I can stop.

Any suggestions?

Buy, Sell, Trade / looking for rear fender and front wheel with brake
« on: July 23, 2013, 05:26:55 AM »
want to finish up my 46 with the 212 but want to keep all original parts un modified so want to find a rear fender i can trim.

Front brake with this engine would be more than useful.

Thanks
