K model magneto to engine spacers and bracket
« on: April 17, 2016, 06:57:07 PM »
Good evening,
My K model engine was apart when I got it so I do not know how the magneto mounts to it.  I have attached pictures showing where I put two bolts and spacers, but there is one more spot that looks like a spacer should go and the mag plate has threads, but the engine has no hole to put a bolt through, just a "blind hole". I do not have any parts that look like they go there.
Also, where does this bracket go?  Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scooter

My 48 is very similar. Not sure what that hole may have been intended for but never had anything in that hole.  Picture shows were bracket goes. Uses the nut of carb to hold it on. Helps to keep belt looped around lower engine pulley as does the one at the top right above the flywheel cover.

Tom, can you measure the depth of the pinion gear cover?  Thanks!

Thank you very much for the pictures. I would have never figured that out.
I restored an "H" I think 25 years ago for someone, but it was assembled when I got it, so I did not have to figure it out. I have pictures, but not of that area.
For some reason I have in my mind that the lower hole had a stud type spacer that threaded into the mag plate. Not sure.
Thanks a bunch.
