Restoration Projects / 52 project update
« on: May 23, 2012, 09:46:08 AM »
well, finnally moving along on my bike, the engine turned out beautiful, looks new, welded up some holes that had been drilled in the frame to jury rig the seat mount on yesterday, and ordered my tires and tubes today. next week it's off to the sand blaster with the frame, fenders, tank, & brackets, and hopefully start painting by next weekend. The plan is to have this bike on the road, or at least at the local shows by July. Then, it's time for a new project, i'm gonna try to build a modernized version of a simplex, at least what one might have looked like now-a-days. totally from scratch. wish me luck!!

What Year is my Bike? / finally got some pic's
« on: April 08, 2012, 02:51:00 PM »
Well rick, here ya go, sorry it took so long, hope this helps with year, I am currently rebuilding the engine, but the bike is 100% complete, gonna need some work but it's very solid, the original tires will even air up and hold air for about a week but they are dry rotted bad. in the next week or so i'll be taking it apart and sandblasting it, I can't wait to pull it into the local bike show this summer, trying to find a leather helmet and some aviation goggles to go with it!! it'll be a sight as i am a rather large man and i'm gonna look pretty funny on such a small bike as it is!! thanks for all the help you guy's have given me. I got a hold of Wayne yesterday and will be ordering all my parts this week.

PS, I have a bunch of pics, but i can only put one up per post for some reason, any Ideas?

New suppliers will be added as found / market value
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:37:20 AM »
We as simplex owners are the ones who control how much these bikes are worth. I personally will never sell mine, I will leave that up to my children, it has too much of my familly history wrapped up in it for me to put a price on it. but these bikes are rather rare, and should be worth alot more than what i see them sell for. I understand that if the value of them goes up then so does the cost to restore them. but I watch these auction sites and see old scooters and bicycles go for way more than a restored, rare, and unique servi-cycle goes for.

Thanks, I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks about this.

What Year is my Bike? / 1953 servi-cycle
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:00:26 AM »
well, sad to say, but i think i have to sell my 53 non auto servi-cycle, it is all original and would take very little to restore, nothing is rusted out, the motor is free aaand rotating, the rims, tank, fenders are in exceptional shape, the tail light lense is missing as is the air cleaner assembly, and the headlight lense is broken. this was my grandfathers bike, he bought it new in 53, painted it in 59 (was maroon, now black) then drove it 200 miles and parked it in the garage never to be seen again till a couple of years ago when i aquired it. I am posting it here first, i would rather see someone who appreciates this bike get it than someone who is gonna make a custom out of it. my daughters health forces the sale of this rare beauty

Other Things Simplex / 1953 manual
« on: October 12, 2011, 07:41:52 AM »
hello all, i have a 1953 non automatic, all original except paint and that was done in the 50's, it's been sitting in a garage since 1960, my grandfather drove it from southeastern michigan to northern michigan and vowed to never drive one again! it is partialy disassembled, the frame handlebars, wheels tires and fenders are still together, i have all the parts with the exception of the air breather assembly. what i want to know is what it's worth, the engine is not siezed up, and the headlight lense is broken, also the tailight lense is missing. i'm afraid i have to sell it to the highest bidder because one of my daughters has recently been diagnosed with cancer and she is going to need some cash to help her out, if anyone can help me on this it would be much appreciated, there is no rust on the bike, the rims, tank, seat, are all in exceptional shape, thank you in advance for your replies,  Little Eddie
