Buy, Sell, Trade / REDUCED!!! 1953 simplex with harley hummer 125 engine
« on: October 16, 2019, 10:11:13 AM »
I have decided to part with my 1952 simplex that I have built. It has a 125 Harley hummer engine with 3 speed transmission, the little bike starts, runs and rides great. It stops like a simplex...… Everything is new on the bike and it has been ridden lease than 25 miles. I am asking $5,250.00 or best offer. Located in central western Oklahoma. If any questions please feel free to call me at 1-580-243-9008 bill of sale only.
Thanks,
Dave Beck

I have gotten a title 42 before, takes forever. but still may be the best way to go that way I would actually have a title.

I forgot to ask, which number is considered the VIN number the frame or engine??????

Thanks again for the replies

Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / title how to get one?

Do most of you guys have a title for your bike? I would really like to legally ride mine, don't know the best way to go about getting a title for it. Getting anything done with the OK. tax commission is a pain.

Let me know your ideas

I have thought of a few names... hummer plex, simpleharley, hummer servi-cycle.

Just finished putting a Harley hummer 125 engine in my 1953 simplex. not super powerful, but with the 3 speed transmission, it will go. Was a lot of work to change it over but now I have something I can actually ride.

Buy, Sell, Trade / considering offers 1948? restored simplex
« on: March 08, 2013, 11:46:12 AM »
I thought I would start here to offer this restored bike for sale. I just finished it a month or so ago and have ridden it a couple of times. Neet little bike, but I have 3 Harleys and I am sure it won't get ridden much, my passion is to restore items, after they are finished I loose interest. It probably needs a new lighting coil as the lights do not operate, may just have a short. let me know your offers if you are interested in the bike. I will consider all. I do have a lot into the bike and need to at least recoup my expendatures.
Thanks for looking.

Well with the wonderful help of Wayne Mahaffey and quite a few dollars less in my account I have finally gotten the old bike finished. Just waiting for the weather to get better to go on the first ride. The bike runs nice.

I am attaching a few pictures, but before the purest get started I know it isn't the correct color and yes I know the wheels are supposed to be cream color, but I built this one the way I wanted it to look.

Restoration Projects / My New Find!
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:15:19 AM »
Hello Everyone,
My name is Dave  Beck and I live in Elk City, Oklahoma. I found a simplex that was stuck in the back of my friends garage in Charlette North Carolina. We are currently visiting the kids through Christmas. I think the bike I just got is a mismatch bike but I like the looks of it alot. I owned a 1956 automatic about 10 years ago but let a guy talk me out of it. I always enjoyed a put around the neighbor hood on the little bike. I own 3 harleys one of which is a 1962 panhead, but always on the search for another project. I have already talked to Wayne Mahaffey and he assures me that he should have most everything I need to restore the old gal except for a teardrop tail light, so if anyone has one or knows where I might pick one up at please let me know. I know the luggage rack is not correct so will either make a repo myself or get one from Wayne. All comments welocome.

Thanks for a great site and for sharing knowledge on these old machines.

Photo Gallery / Re: Portland 2012 Pictures
« on: December 09, 2012, 08:58:09 AM »
Hello Everyone,
I just joined the site and have been reading and gaining knowledge right and left onthe simplex's. I just picked up one from a friend while we are vacationing through Christmas in North Carolina with the kids. From what I can gather it is a mis matched bike close to 1948. The engine number is H14335 and it has a cast iron jug. I can find no serial numbers on the frame. The engine was completely overhauled in 1995 as to the previous owner. He said it ran super.

The reason I posted on this topic was that I have access to a gravely engine that is seen on the portland pictures. I was wondering if anyone knew the owner of the bike and had information of how to contact him.

Don't worry I am not going to destroy the bike I just got to put the gravely engine in. But would possibly like to build a bike with that power plant. Who ever built the bike did a superb job. I will try and post some pictures of my bike soon.

Thanks in advance for any help.
