Off Topic / Dutch Simplex motor company
« on: June 19, 2015, 03:23:06 AM »
In my research for information i found out that there was also a Dutch(and British) Simplex factory that produced motorbikes. The Dutch Simplex company in amsterdam produced motorcycles with four and two cilinders chaindriven since 1902 till 1940. After the war they only produced mopeds and bycicles until 1965. Then the company was sold and losts it's original name.
Not many servicycles around in the Netherlands.
I found one so far in a ww2 related museum. It's a servicycle but not the GA1 model. I added some pictures, maybe you can identify the model off servicycle.

Hello everyone,

i just arrived in this forum and i am fairly new to the simplex community. My main interest is the history of world war two and especially operation Market Garden which in september 1944 liberated the area i live in. All sort off vehicles were used like jeeps, trucks and motors. During static shows of vehicles you see a lot of harleys, cushman and British brands like BSA, Norton. But there are also pictures know that the simplex servicycle was used here by the American soldiers.
If you scroll down on this page http://www.theliberator.be/militarybicycles.htm you can read a small article about the servicycle in use by the us army.
I'm 34 years young, father of two boys(3 and 1 year) and in the future i would like to own my own simplex servicycle. My dream would be an army issued one but let's see what gets on my path in the future.

When i was browsing the internet for information i also found there was a Dutch(and a British one too) company named simplex who made motorcycles.
I'm hoping to find some good information here to help me out in the future.

Regards,
Frenk...
