Other Things Simplex / Rinse and Repeat
« on: June 10, 2014, 03:22:27 PM »
Hi Guys,
I was going to show off the 56 this weekend to my wife's sister that was in from Florida.
After kick number 20 I gave up and moved to the 47; bingo it started and did it's job.
Decided to dig into the 56 today and found that the new gas had loosened the remaining gunk in the tank.
I'm cleaning the tank and carb. again. Still trying NOT to do a boil on the tank.
Having a blast playing with the new toys.
Cheers

Other Things Simplex / Moto Museum
« on: May 05, 2014, 01:04:40 PM »
Hi Guys,
Found myself in St. Louis Mo. this weekend and had a little time to take a tour of the Moto museum.
They house around 100 bikes of various makes and ages.
I was shocked to see they had no Simplex of any kind on display.
I ask the curator about it and she had no clue as to what a Simplex was.
She did say she would check with the museums owner to see why they were not represented.
I'm including a couple shots of some of the more interesting bikes there.
Just cant believe that with a Ducati, Harley, and a hand made wooden motorcycle that Simplex didn't make the cut.
Well here you go, enjoy the picks.

Other Things Simplex / Title and Insurance Please
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:15:13 AM »
Hi Guys,
Just got the title and insurance done on the 56.
Man I just love Hagerty Ins.
Adding the second Simplex with all the coverage raised the policy $15 a year.
Wish my truck insurance was that low.
Now my wife and I both will be terrorizing the big city of Burton Tx.
Happy Resurrection Day

Other Things Simplex / Quick Fix
« on: March 30, 2014, 07:45:36 PM »
Hi Guys,
Don't know if you have run into this before but, the gears on the 56's kick starter are worn to the point of not catching on the crank gears. Not having a spare "of course" ; I flipped the gear on the kick starter. It is off set a little but it was not enough to stop it from catching. Starts now with no problem. Just an idea if you find yourself there.

Hi Guys,
Is there someone that you would recommend to recover the seat on the Simplex.
I'd like to stay with the leather too.
If you know of someone I would appreciate their contact info.
On another note; got the 56 going today.
What a smooth ride.

Other Things Simplex / Need Part
« on: February 15, 2014, 10:45:47 AM »
Hi Guys,
Took the Simplex out for a ride today.
Only went 5 miles or so and then disaster struck.
The bracket that mounts to the motor and frame that holds the throttle and choke cable and that the toggle switch mounts to
broke. It appears to have been repaired before and I will repair it now. I would like to get one that has not been repaired knowing that the weld point will always be weak and subject to breaking again. If someone has one and is willing to part with it please contact me with price and we will work out the details. I have also included a few pics of the part in question.

Other Things Simplex / Just Wondering
« on: February 12, 2014, 02:13:46 PM »
Hi Guys,
I was just wondering how many of us live within say 250 miles of Austin Texas.
I was shocked to find Oil Lamp lives so close I can see his house ( no I really can) and then there's a guy in Austin.
There was another guy that sold one in Bryan Tx. a couple months ago.
Seems like there might be a few of us close together; just might be fun to get together and compare notes or something.
Again just wondering.

Other Things Simplex / Puncture
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:46:29 PM »
Hi Guys,
Had a puncture on the Simplex today but with probable 60+ year old tires what should I expect. Right?
Tire still looks fair so I went to the local Mall-wart and checked in the bike department for a tube.
Bell makes one the right size and of course Mall-warts sells it.
Don't know if it is less money through Coker but they are here and available now.
Cost was like $8 so won't loose any sleep either way.
Here's a couple pics of the repair.
Cheers

Other Things Simplex / Insurance
« on: January 28, 2014, 03:04:33 PM »
Hi Guys,
Just took out insurance on the Simplex. Covered it for $4000 and liability for $132 per year through Hagerty.
They say it is a motorcycle not a scooter.
I think that is a fair price, just wondering if anyone else knows of a better deal.
Cheers

Other Things Simplex / Pics. and Numbers
« on: January 06, 2014, 12:38:34 PM »
Here are the pics. I promised. I did read on this sight we could not post enough pics. Got it on the lift and drained the gas and cleaned the glass filter.Cleaned it a little and made notes of things to work on. All in all I think it's going to be great fun.
The motor number is KO1955A but did not find a frame number. (Is there a frame number?).
Enjoy the pics.
Cheers
