Looks good, I like the looks of that motor and the way it is set up. Also like how you have made it look more like the stock exhaust. Any advantages to the chain drive instead of the belt drive?

Never had a problem with belt drive slip either, even with a GX200 on a heavy 3 wheeler. 

If you have belt slip, something isn't right.  A v-belt can transfer a lot of torque.

I'm starting to think that the problem isn't slipping in the belt, but may be the motor. Carryall told me to rejet the carb if I put an aftermarket breather on it, and haven't got around to it yet. I rode it yesterday just to start it up and tool around one more time b4 ths snow flies too much, and I think the clutch id\s working fine, but the motor is revving up and down. I'll  have to dig deeper later when I get time.

That'll be an easy fix for you.  "Surging" is almost always a carb problem (it's the governor trying to compensate).  It's usually a plugged/restricted jet resulting in running a "lean" condition.  Luckily, the jet and emulsion tube on the Honda/clone carb is ultra easy to get at/change out, and requires only a 10mm wrench and a thin bladed screwdriver, and can be removed in less than a minute.

They definitely help after installing the open air filter and exhaust.  I assume the springs are because your pulling the governor.  You going to invest in a aluminum flywheel and put a mild cam in also?  Walbro pulse carb?

Honda GC160.  That family of motor is also available in GC190, and the heavier duty, GS190 version.  Check out my thread,  http://www.simplexservi-cycle.com/index.php?topic=1375.0.  I am using a GS190.
