Membership Trivia
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:57:33 AM »
I've reviewed the membership pages & divided them into two catagories....those who've posted 4 or more messages, and those with 3 or less:

In 2011, 54 people signed up, but only 23 were very chatty (22 never posted at all).

So far in 2012, 31 people have signed up, but only 9 have posted many messages (21 haven't posted anything).

A review of the Vintage Motor Bike Club's roster revealed 43 people who say they have a Simplex, none of which are signed up on this website (as far as I can tell....besides me (and possibly ricks)).

Not sure why things are so quiet.....

To add to this, we get about 50 memberships requests a day.  Most of these are bogus, people who want to get in so they can spam us for Viagra or some other bullshit!

I try to filter these out as much as possible, but sometimes one gets through.  If somebody spams us, I remove it as soon as I see it, and delete their membership.

If anyone who is legit gets denied, have them send me an email.  When they register, they get sent an email to let them know they are being considered, so they have an address to reply to.

Thanks,

I'd be curious to see the breakdown by home town and ages.

For those interested, we have had 8400 membership requests since we started this 1 year ago this month.  Of those, we currently have  92 members.  I wonder how many Simplex bikes are out there?

If we look at the serial numbers available to us at the moment (the motor numbers track fairly close also) and the model years that we "think" we know, it looks like around 10,380 bikes were built between 1953 and 1957.  That's 2,076 bikes per year, or (using a 240 day work year), 9 bikes per day.  No wonder they had to add minibikes & go carts to the product line....

I don't know of any other Simplex's in my entire county.  The last one I saw was at the Hartung auction in chicago & before that there was a military one at the Rockford, IL ww2 reenactment last September.

Thank you for the work you do to keep the site free from spam and for giving us a place to discuss Simplexes.
