in need of a scrap frame 50+
« on: February 16, 2013, 07:40:02 PM »
I am in search of a 50's+ frame that is no good for anything. Rusted, cut up , damage beyond repair. I just need the neck with a serial number on it. So if there is anybody that's wants to part with one let me know. Reese   ???

Gosh, it's a shame you didn't get one of the wollard frames.  They sold for 28 bucks apiece.....now a guy is selling some of them on ebay for 150 each.

Are you building a frame from scractch, or just trying to come up with a serial number for title purposes.

Serial number for title purpose. I visited my local man cave outlet and pick up some great ideas for my bike but need a number. My frame does not have any numbers.  :'(

Might be cheaper/easier to create your own.  Can you go to your state's DMV's data base to look up vin numbers? (you can in Illinois).  Pick a number that's not already in the database, stamp it onto a piece of metal, weld it to the bottom of the neck, & your set.

In Illinois, if you build a homemade trailer, they just issue a new number which you have to affix to the trailer frame.

Don't know about these days, but back when I worked for the bicycle company, we put serial numbers on the rear lower plate (where the back wheel mounts).  You might stamp a number onto that plate & it would save you from having to mess with welding anything, and the location is somthing that law enforcement is used to seeing.

Making a plate and welding it under the neck is a piece of cake.  Who is to say who put that number there?  And you guys didn't think 1949 3 wheel trucks had numbers?  LOL!!!

That's why I'm asking I will be removing the neck anyway to add more rake. I just figured why not try to put a number with it. Saw this at the local man cave outlet that help my mind further out of the box. ;D

That looks like one of those 5150 kickers.  I heard they were built by blind chinamen!

It's a shame to cut up a good frame . These frames are so simple, couldnt you just fab up a complete frame for your project ? I mean if your going to cut the neck off anyhow to change the rake . Best of luck however you go with it .

Ona that's why I'm in search of a trashed frame. I have one that has been abused but it has no number. So I have no other choice cause it may be titled some day.    ???

here's one on flebay that ends today , you might have seen already.  I believe its from Wollard auction  based on its location . I inquired to its title and think it doesn't have one .
