Hello from Tennessee
« on: February 24, 2014, 03:36:32 PM »
Hi All

Glad to find this board. My dad has his bike restored some years ago. Health has kept him from riding it much any more, so he has placed in my care. I've gotten it running and ride it around the neighborhood. Needless to say it's a hoot to ride and gets a lot of attention.

Welcome to the group Red.  Send me a PM with your real name, frame number, & motor number & I'll add you to the registry.  That's a great looking bike.

Was your dad active with the older Simplex group?  What is his history with the bike?  Have either of you been to the Portland, Indiana VMBC convention?

Looking good!  Like Mike said, what are the engine and frame numbers?  I don't see a brake light bracket on there, so the bike may be a little bit earlier.

Welcome Red . :)

Nice bike .

Rick , I see the clamp on the rod , just below the breather and the wires strung to that area .

If you look carefully just above the kick lever, you can see the top of the brake lite switch & mounting tab, which proves the bike is a '56.  The only question I have is if the seat was originally covered in plastic or leather (it appears it's been recovered).

Hi Red,
Your dad has great taste in bikes. That is one good looking Simplex.
Now that you have it sorted out don't forget to take it back by your dad so he can take it for a spin.
The older I get the younger my bike makes me feel.
Cheers

Hi red and welcome, I hope my 56 turns out that nice!
