Title: RESTORATION PICS
Post by: SIMPLEXUSA on March 19, 2013, 09:01:13 PM
3/19/2013   replace bearings in fork tube . 99cents per bearing. not even worth cleaning old bearings. I installed set screws in the forks and put stainless cap nuts on top. I like the look.

I have been working on the bike. I pressed in new transmission bearings and have installed new belts. I also had a buddy make a new carriage bracket for the pully, as the old one was bent. I had all the parts powder coated. I then shimmed it all up and mounted it. waiting for more parts too arrive.

Your engine looks great Dan!  Did the shims work out?

Agreed , very nice .

Dan , Could you please post a pic looking directly into your motor intake ?

Looking at the last pic you posted , it looks like the throat is 'slotted' instead of through bored .

Pete . :)

Thanks for the pic Dan . :)

Interesting ...

I'm learning something new everyday . I've seen the pre M rotory valve ( crank portion ) but hadn't noticed the slotted throat . Honestly ,  never thought it might be .

Put the motor in today. it went well until I realized that my engine drive belt rubs on my tillotson carb. when belt is slackened (neutral). What the heck?  I got this bike in rough shape , not running . a lot of guess work. any pics. of a complete bike would be great. (r/side carb/belt area). Thanks Dan

Nice and clean .

Why is the threaded end of your crank so short ? It seems to have about half as many threads as mine . I hope that's normal for the earlier models . It looks very similar to this illustration :

Here's a pic of mine before the rebuild :

Rear fender finally done. I went with a different tail lamp.  it has a old glass lens. I like it better than the original. I put ignition in also
