Title: 1952 survivor
Post by: kartjockey on October 10, 2016, 09:36:23 AM
I asked this guy for the frame number.  If it is a true survivor it would be a good number to get.

I think this is the same bike.  Unfortunately, the pictures from the article are gone. Good thing PD saved a few for us. Check out this thread right here:

Pete, check out the steering head nut, they are the same on both bikes.  I don't remember seeing one like that before.  I thought they were all domed?

It's the same bike . Same decrepit decal and same marks on the handlebar . And , agreed , Rick , I haven't seen a head nut like that either .

This bike sold for $4300.  I feel this is a fair number for an all original bike.  Any other opinions?

Did anyone here buy it?

$4300 may be a bit on the low side , but yeah , that's probably about right .
That strange head nut is what likely kept the price down . ;)

There aren't many to compare , so I guess it's like anything else : worth whatever one is willing to pay .

I'd like to have seen what made those marks on the handlebar . Maybe some sort of windshield ???

I don't think this bike sold as it didn't meet the reserve.

You're probably right Vince .

"Current bid:US $4,300.00
Reserve not met"

And , the auction page simply states that "Bidding has ended on this item."

So , unless the seller waived the reserve , maybe after the fact ? , he still has it .

You are correct, I didn't see that in the email I got from eBay!

Vince, did you bid on it?

EDIT:  The bike is now up for sale with a Buy It Now of $7500!  The seller bought it for $900 back in 2011. How much is enough?  LOL

But , Rick ... he has to get 'something' to cover storage . Looks like greed shows its face , again . :(

No Rick I didn't. I thought about it but was working on a couple of other deals and didn't want to stretch myself to thin. I spoke with the owner the day he listed it and thought it would go for around $5,000. It appears to be a very nice original survivor but $7,500 is to much in my opinion. Vince
