Title: Christmas present for the Servi
Post by: carryall on December 29, 2016, 02:07:07 PM
Got tired of looking at the chipped paint from the fork making contact with the neck, and the hole in the grips.  Little imagination and shopping around came up with these.

Ya, I tried rubber stops, but these looked much better and more period correct. IMO, Not as noticeable in person and blends in well.  My new buddy isn't impressed either.  LOL

Since I got a new seat for the bike this summer, I decided for Christmas I'd match the saddle bags to the seat using the same type antique nickel spots (slightly smaller tho) used on the seat.  Once I had the correct tool, the hardest part was figuring out where, and the best spacing to use IMO.  Not a very good pic. The brown color matches much better in person than on camera for some reason but, you get the idea...

Bling ... LOL

Looks like ya did a decent job , Paul .

The camera always gives a difference away .
We use to use a Polaroid to see if any parts of a vehicle had been redone . It would show , every time .

That's a idea!  I suppose any difference in hues, texture, gloss, etc. the camera picks up vs the eye.  In this case the seat is a smooth tanned leather and the bags are rough leather.  The seats "sunburst" goes from light, almost orange brown in the center to a deep dark brown at the bottom of the skirt that's almost the same brown as the bags and grips.  I think the bags look like they "go with the seat" now, instead of separately.

More so , that's for sure . ;)

Technically , the bags should have that dark beading around the edges . And ...

Just givin' ya a hard time . LOL

Your right. Good eye.  The edge is actually a dark green edge trim I picked out for the seat and behind the star conchos but, I doubt my sewing machine has the "umph" to sew leather.  LOL, I considered it.
