Title: ebay sales
Post by: kartjockey on March 25, 2017, 04:16:47 AM
I don't know who that guy is in California but he's been holding back on us!!  The latest tank is a very unique one.  I was gonna find my club registry book to see if anyone is registered from there.

I think that is the 2 1/2 gallon tank that only was made in 1943-1944, right before they went to the single side fill tanks.

Tom, I would say this guy is not a Simplex guy.  In some of the auctions he says he doesn't know anything about Simplex, but got the stuff from an guy that had Harley stuff.  I bet it was bought at an estate sale, if I had to guess.

Pictures saved for the future.  If anyone knows more about this tank, please speak up!  I will change the topic name and move it into the proper place for gas tanks in a week or two.

That is how those tanks mounted.  They didn't start using the aluminum bar mount until the mid 1940's.

I sent the guy, who sold the $475 seat, tanks and other things on ebay, an email asking if he would be interested in my bike. He sent me a nice reply saying he was not a collector and just was selling his uncles servi cycle collection. Said his uncle loved servi cycles but is not buying anymore.

My bike is still for sale here and hoping for offers.

If the tank answer is correct then my frame and tank are earlier than the model 1945 that I thought. I always wondered why the seat spring is in front of the little cross bar for the fender.   ???

Rick & butch27 ,

While strolling through the site , I found this illustration from 1946 . It shows the tank with a rear loop . Part # 637 is a "Tank Anchor Washer" . I'm guessing that a stud came up from the under tank flat bar into that washer , which fit into the loop , as support .

Since getting my new seat, I have thought about moving the seat height up and to the rear slightly.  Before I fab a new set-up, or modify the existing, I'd be interested to see what they did on yours.
