Just read of Ernie Butler being promoted to Heaven on Dec, 8, 2022. What a great guy and wealth of knowledge about the Simplex's. Ernie will be missed by all of us. RIP brother. Bob

Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / Servi-cycle with Villiers engine
« on: March 19, 2018, 07:18:19 AM »
Hey guys, I've heard Simplex tried a Villiers motorcycle engine some time in the early 50's. Wayne said he wasn't sure when it was, but they scrapped the idea because it was too fast and dangerous. Any other ideas or stories. I also heard they tried it in the last of the Servi-cycles, Sportsman?, don't know. I can't find any info on any of this. I know they put the Villiers in the Sportsman Senior mini bike style around 64 or 65. That was a cool little scooter that ran fast. Just wondering about the Servi-cycle. If they had a real motorcycle engine they might have held a spot in the market and kept going. Any info please share. Bob

Simplex Sportsman / How many Sportsmans do we know of their location.
« on: March 31, 2015, 07:42:21 AM »
I know of 4 in Oklahoma. Bob Kerr has a 58. My friend Mike has 2 big fender 1960's. I have an almost rolling 58. Even if you only have a partial Sportsman lets get it counted. I think this will be interesting to see how many we can account for that is left in existence. Thanks to Rick for getting this section up and rolling.

Sportsman pictures. The red bike is serial# 18001 and was bought in Missouri. The picture of the blue is when we picked up in Tenn. serial#17961. These belong to Mike Reed in Cleveland, OK. He needs a sportsman inboard kicker if anyone has one they would want to sell.

Simplex Sportsman / Sportsmans
« on: December 09, 2014, 07:26:07 AM »
I posted  questions in the New Simplex on Ebay thread. But I'll try again here. Any estimates on How many of the big fendered sportsmans were made. A friend of mine has two complete rolling chassis. Looking for 150 motors if any one has one for sale. Also what is the value of sportsmans and their specific parts. I know they are rare and hardly ever see them. Any info would help. Thanks, Bob

Buy, Sell, Trade / Restored '54 and parts bike in Missouri
« on: July 12, 2014, 08:05:19 AM »
Went to look at a restored '54 and '48 in Missouri yesterday. The guy wants $5,000 firm on both bikes together http://springfield.craigslist.org/mcy/4474666803.html. The '54 looks better in picture than in person but is still pretty nice. The '48 is an auto frame with a supposedly rebuilt '48 marked motor, single spout tank , an early seat spring. Because of this he thinks it is a '48.  His name is Mike and is a really nice guy. I passed but my friend did bring home a '59 or '60 sportsman. Just thought i would post this if anybody would like to check it out.
