Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / Re: Tecumseh 2 cycle
« on: March 05, 2014, 03:53:53 PM »
The engine came from a $5.00 snow-blower. It has a heavy cast iron  flywheel, should be OK. I think the engine was a 5 hp model, will let you know how it works.

Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / Tecumseh 2 cycle
« on: December 28, 2013, 01:17:32 PM »
People give these engines away around here, was offered 4 of them by friends. I could not find any other engine to fit this 'child's' model or whatever it is. So I thought why not go back to the Simplex roots and use a 2cycle. I'm not happy with my latest setup and next I will rotate the engine up 45 deg., will have to fab a new intake to make card level. Just not much room for jackshafts or anything else on this small model. Will add more pics as I go. Oh yeah added a pic of my min-chopper I built.

Frame, Tank, Seat, Controls, Etc / Re: Frame

One more thing, would one of you guys on here please measure the width and length of your foot pads, I know I have big feet (size 12 ), but these seem smaller. It is like this thing is a youth or child's model. Did they ever build such a thing.  Thanks guys and Merry X-MAS, hope you all get Simplex parts from Santa.

Will take some more pics of the frame and post them soon. I did measure the wheelbase axle to axle and it was 46 inches. The frame has not been cut and or shortened in any way, what ever this thing is it came from the factory the way it is now. I will try to get some info from previous owner. I am working on a new motor mount of my own design and working on mounting a 2 cycle engine, it will be unique.

E-mailed some pics to Wayne after I got my engine mount from him. He said he has never seen one like this. You can see from the pic that his mount is much too long for my bike. The cut-outs on the back of the mount should fit the frame vertical bars.

Is my frame 'factory', the motor mount area measurements don't seem to match any others I have seen on here.

I'm new and still learning stuff every day. Is this an original part or what. Ordered some parts from Wayne and he thinks my bike is early 40s. Thanks guys.      Sorry about the pic sizing I'll figure it out soon.

What Year is my Bike? / Re: What year is it ?

Are the bolt size/threads an odd size on the tank support brace, appears to be 3/16 but the thread must fine or ?. Are the tank support bars another part next to impossible to find ?

Not sure at this point what I will do with it. Had to make a repair to the tank mount bar, bend it back down and weld in place. I'm making some rear fender braces as the originals are gone. Are rear fender braces hard to find and or high dollar items ?  A few new pics also.

Has rocker clutch left side and a very unique steering head, has an Art-Deco look.
