Thanks for the additional photos Rick. I'm afraid I'm no help on your questions, but I gotta tell ya, that's one great seat pan!

What year was the handlebar mounting changed from the bicycle stem style to the 4 bolt mounting plate style?

So. if I understand correctly from the info on the attached sheet (provided by the moderator of this site), this bike would be earlier than 1945? Open question to anyone that would like to jump in.

Hey Rick, just wondering if you have a pinion gear mounted to the magneto? If so, did you find the kick start assembly in the box of motor goodies?

Thanks. That's what I thought too. Does anyone have a photo of an actual civilian Simplex with one as standard equipment?

A friend of mine tells me that the frame mounted oil bath air cleaner was only used on the military Simplex. Is that true?

Here's another Colson. This one is a pieced together 1939 snap tank model. I was very fortunate to get this one for a reasonable price, as these racks are fairly hard to come by.

Do you sell as well or just a buyer/horder like myself?  :o I have a bunch of old ratty stuff I play with.

Sorry to say, I've got the same affliction as you. I thought I was better, but it seems to have flared up again.

Mike suggested in another thread that there may be some interest in the old bicycles that I collect. So here we go, one at a time.
This is a 1941 Firestone "Flying Ace" manufactured by the Colson Corp. of Elyria, Ohio. For sheer coolness, I'd have to say this is my favorite bicycle. As you can tell, I like patina! My preference is to revive, rather than restore.
