Hi All! Newbie here - 45-47 H motor
« on: August 08, 2016, 03:55:35 PM »
Hey,

This bike has ben in the family for more than 50 years. It has always been a dream of my as a kid to see it run. I started restoring it just over a year ago. The motor is done, thanks Wayne. Parts are coming back from paint. Should be reassembling it shortly.
Here is what I started with. I will post more pic as things progress.

Dave, that is sweet!  Looks like it was a complete bike.  When was the last time it ran?

Hello and Welcome . That's wonderful the family has kept this bike all this time . ITs great your bring it back to its former glory . Enjoy the rides and share the history with young folks who don't even know what it is . Bring it around to some local bike/car shows .

Rick,

Yes it was pretty much all there. The original motor never ran until I had Wayne Mchaffey rebuild the motor. Hasn't been on the bike yet. Now that my parts are coming together I hope to see it run before the snow flies.

Yes, we've always had a love of motorcycles. Didn't really know what really was for years. New it had to be a little rare.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Plan to ride not hide it.

Welcome and Howdy from Texas. I hope you took lots of pictures before you took it apart. It helps when you start putting it back together.  Also it makes a great viewing of before and after photos.  8)

Welcome to the World of Simplex. It's a lot easier to start with something complete. Take it apart, fix what needs to be fixed, and put it back together. You found the right guy in Wayne, he has all the parts, very knowledgeable, and just a great guy to deal with. Have fun with the project. That's what this is all about.

Thank you! Great to be here. Wayne is a great guy. I dealt with him for over a year until I got to meet him in Portland this year.
All my parts are back from paint and I'm going to start assembling this weekend.

Rick,
I'd like to document my reassembly of my bike here. Where do you suggest I start my thread of that process. I'm thinking that Restoration Projects is the place.
