2 Bikes On Ebay 30 March 12
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:03:54 AM »
2 nice looking, but older restoration, bikes on ebay right now with 4 days to go.  The red one has the goose neck handle bar mount & the blue one has a phelon magneto, so my guess is pre-49 for red and 56 or later on the blue one.  I still don't know how to make a link, so the auction numbers are 300689357915 & 300689358929.

I sent a message to the seller, asking him to share the frame & motor numbers with us, with the offer to help narrow the year down for them.  Haven't heard back yet.

If you look at the pics of the blue one you can see an original key I have wondered what they look like I have a switch with no key I wonder if a guy could cut one out I've got a buddy with a band saw with a jewelers blade

That key looks easy see if he would send you photo with it on some graph paper anew a ruler. Then a copy would be easy.

No need to spend time making a key, Wayne has them. I think I paid $4.50 for it.

Yea Wayne has keys but they don't look like that one unless he has others. Shoot if I could get one of those bikes all I would do clean lube and polish. Done.

I got a reply from the ebay seller (in Michigan).  The blue bike is frame number 02519, which is only 23 units newer than LittleEd's (who also is in Michigan) bike.  That's kinda cool.  I'll bet these bikes were part of the same order back in the day.

They also told me it looks like the red bike has never been re-painted (I question that, but who knows).

Just received a better clarification on those bikes.  He had gotten them mixed up the first time.

Red Bike.....02519 (M11992B)....probably a 1952 model (note that the handlebars are wrong).

Blue Bike....15004 (M23083B)....probably a 1956 model.

As I mentioned, he thought they hadn't been repainted, but the decals sorta make that questionable.  I've asked him to steer the new owner(s) to our group when they get them.

About the red bike being original paint, l don't think l have seen any pics of original bikes with a black frame yet fender braces are painted same as tins. Seems odd

Kinda funny that the 2 bikes have different numbers of bids, but identical amounts of money bid on them.
