Bill Erickson's 3 wheel truck on Ebay
« on: April 18, 2013, 07:43:04 PM »
This truck is beautiful!  It is probably the finest restored 3 wheel truck out there.  Anyone want to take a guess at what the bids get up to?  I will start off and say around $10,000!

only 45 minutes left!  At its current price of $7800, I think it is a really good buy.

I was wanting to watch the very end of the auction, but went on a motorcycle ride instead...it was at 7,800 last time I saw it, I bet it went crazy right at the end. I think it is well worth it.

I hope I wasn't bidding against anyone here on this forum. I went a little higher than I wanted   to but I've wanted one of these for some time and the opportunity to own the truck that was restored by Bill Erickson was something I just couldn't pass up. Probably 7-10 days away from receiving it as I live in Southern California. I can't wait to get it. It will be a great addition to my other bikes.

Rick, I've enjoyed watching you build yours, it's coming along very well and I can't wait to see when it's finished. Thanks for all the helpful information you've posted, it's really been helpful to those of us that aren't quite as "skillful".

I will second those congrats Vince!  That is an awesome machine.  That is the truck that inspired my build.  Who amongst us would not want one?

I just try to pass along what little knowledge I collect over the years.

Yes I did. Surprisingly, it only took 5 days to get here from Illinois. Ironically, the package Bill shipped via U.S. mail (title, manuals, etc.) took nearly two weeks. The good news though is everything arrived without incident. As expected, the bike itself is incredibly nice. Bill did a phenomenal job on the restoration. I would guess it didn't look any nicer when it came from the factory in 1952. I am proudly displaying this right next to my other bikes in my living room.

Yeah, I'm sure it is way nicer than factory!  I would say that most of these Simplex's that get a high quality restoration nowadays are much better than the factory ever put out.  We are using products that were not available than, such as powder coat, and base/clear coat paint jobs. Not to mention, stainless steel spokes that never rust!
