Buy, Sell, Trade / Thinning the herd!
« on: June 03, 2022, 06:58:04 AM »

I'm looking to make some room in the garage for my new project, so I've decided to put my 1954 Simplex Truck and 1955 Anniversary bike up for sale.  The details of both of these builds can be found here on this site.

Could deliver to VMBC meet in Portland with firm commitment.

Truck $7700
Anniversary bike $5500

Wheels & Tires / Hub for 1937
« on: February 10, 2022, 12:26:37 PM »
One of our members has a 1937 that was missing a lot of the parts.  He is putting a chain drive motor in it.  The issue is the rear hub was butchered by someone installing sealed bearings were the loose balls were supposed to go.  This wiped out the hub.  I told him to send it to me, I'd see what I could do.

After getting it in my hands, I decided the only reasonable way to go would be to machine a new hub, using the new sealed bearing he sent along.

Other Things Simplex / Simplex Challenger

As many know, Simplex built other things besides our beloved Service-Cycles.  They had a whole line of karts, from basic to twin engine.  Check out this one currently on auction on BaT.  It is awesome!  I'd love to take it for a spin around a track.

Restoration Projects / 1939 Simplex Deluxe
« on: September 22, 2021, 08:35:26 AM »
As some here know, 2 years ago in Portland I bought a 1939 from Ernie.  I've mostly just been keeping my eye out for parts, and have obtained some more for the project.

I have worked on a few things for it, like a new steering tube, as the old one was beyond use. I have also fixed the frame, which was in need of some massaging and a new foot peg/ center stand.

Back in July, I sent out some parts to the chrome shop, and they did a beautiful job!  Thanks Tom for the recommendation.

For those that don't know, Norm was a big collector of Simplex.  He passed about 8 years ago, and his daughter had the collection.  She recently passed, and now the family needs to clear out the house to sell it.

Do not contact me, as I don't have any knowledge of what is available.

******   UPDATE   ********

ALL SOLD TO WAYNE MAHAFFEY.   If you need anything, call him.

Who’s in for the 2021 Meet in Portland?  I know most of you missed last years Outlaw event, hopefully you will be back for this one.

I will be unveiling my 1955 Anniversary Edition Automatic at the meet. What are the rest of you bringing to show and or ride?

It seems as if a lot people don't know how to use the Personal Message option properly.  When replying to a PM, you CANNOT just hit reply to sender in the mail program.  That just replies to the system administrator, which is me.  Therefore, I get the PM, not the intended person.  To answer a PM, you must use the enclosed link that comes with a PM, which directs the message to the correct person.

Another option, is just send them a regular email.

Thanks!
