Buy, Sell, Trade / For sale. Simplex Bike
« on: November 29, 2011, 09:24:36 PM »
I have a Simplex bike that is an older restoration. I bought the bike some months ago with the thought of "refreshing" the bike, but due to health reasons am not going to be able to do this project. I would take $2,500 for the bike which will include two original Simplex tires. Shipping can be arrainged. Give me a day or so and I will see about posting some pictures.

Just to let everyone know. I am not in the best of health and am turning over this site to Rick. I will help out a bit, but that is about it. For all intents and purposes this site now belongs to Rick. He is a fine fellow and very knowlegable regarding Simplex bikes.

Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / Re: Newbie on board!

The GC160 or the 190 will get you going faster than you can stop. But on the other hand it's nice to have a transmission too  :)

Beautiful job Rick. Let me ask you a question regarding the registration. Do you have the title? If not where can you get one? Also, do you think it might be possible to pass one of these off as a Moped?

Frame, Tank, Seat, Controls, Etc / Re: Headlight help

Rick, if you have power to the rear light and the headlight isn't working it almost has to be the ground. Paint jobs used to drive me crazy with the antique motors and ignition ground.

Rick will have the frame measurements, if anyone does. He also gave the size of the tubing and where it can be purchased in his posts. It is not a standard size tubing. Goodluck in your build.

I don't have a photo, but I'm sure Rick has one. The seat was two pieces of leather. The bottom portion was attached with split rivits and then attached to the top by sewing the two together along the edge. I also saw one attached to the top with a very fancy leather stitching along the edge, but this was on a rebuild.

What a great bunch of photos. Thanks so much Rick. The fellow with the Simplex 3 wheeler takes that bike to all of the shows and generally rides it around. When John Cubine was building the repo Simplex bikes he complained that federal laws required him to put the lights on. Front and rear and turn signals and front and rear brakes so they would pass a safety inspection.
