Buy, Sell, Trade / 1930 Simplex rusty rolling chassis for $5000 on EBay
« on: February 12, 2012, 12:19:27 PM »
Just saw a 1930(?) Servi-Cycle rolling chassis on EBay for $5000 from southern Missouri!

The ad was almost up but cannot find it now, a few hours later.

I suggested that he contact the members of this chat site for information.

Did they make one in 1930?

Engine & Transmission / alernative to boiling out tank
« on: February 10, 2012, 01:07:06 PM »
I've noticed several people mentioning that they were going to boil out their gastanks becauge of rust and sludge.

One trick I have used over the years is a piece of chain and in extreme cases adding CLR anlong with the chain. It has worked for me  and does not harm the tank's paint if your careful not to expose the paint to the CLR too long.

Also, CLR will remove rust stains from painted surfaces extreemly well. It supprised me to find that a painted surface was only stained with the rust for the most part and came off very well with a fine scotch-brite pad and deluted CLR.

Don't try this on a nice painted surface but as to original paint it makes it presentable enought to get a much better price when selling it.

WEAR GLOVES!

I would like to pass-by my plans for upgrading my 1945 Servi-Cycle for your comments and help.

Engine:   Predator 212cc   $139.99       Harbor Freight
CVT:   Comet TAV 30   $189.00      Gokartusa
50A coil   NR-Racing   $109.00      NR Racing
Flywheel   w/starter ring   $129.00      NR Racing
Starter   After Market   $149.99      NR-Racing

I will have a belt pulley made for the final drive to retain the original look and to keep cost down. Any suggestions as to the diameter of the pulley to be made? I am 6’5” and 225 pounds and want to be able to do a solid 60 MPH up our Missouri hills. I hope that this combination will do that. The stock setup just won’t cut it.

If any of the above are wrong or if you know of a better source, PLEASE comment.

I want to run lights so I won’t have to worry about after dark riding. I plan to hang the brake light from the bottom of the seat so I won’t have to modify the fender. I want to be able to return it to stock later.

The next thing I want to do is have a front brake. Any suggestions?

Here is my latest toy. Want to ride so I'm going to replace with a different motor as the stock wasn't very rideable even 55 years ago on my first one.

Looked for a long time for one this nice and really want to ride it a bunch but to do so on our roads, need to try to keep up with traffic.

Any suggestions for a good replacement engine? If I go to chain drive has anyone got any suggestions? Cost? Where is a good place to have the seat reupolstered?

If some one needs this motor or parts from it let me know. It looks good but the case has been repaired so I don't want to mess with it. It is very clean but I don't know a thing about it.

The numbers on the case are "K01773A".

Hey - these bikes really shrunk! When I was a kid my feet barely touched the ground and now I feel like I'm squating when I set on it.
