Maybe a '58 ... Looks to be in pretty good shape .

What are the Frame and motor #s ?

Please turn off your Caps Lock . It's considered yelling and it's harder to read . Thanks . :)

Greetings Hotrod and a big Howdy from Texas.

Pd he's only shouting because he's so excited about his new bike. Just like me after my first ride took me ten mins to type my little blurb in.  :)

I have a '57 ? with a frame # 15225 and motor # M23658B , so yours is a bit earlier than mine . Maybe a '55 ?

I don't think they started numbering the frames until about 1950 .

Mike Sol keeps a registry and would likely have a better idea ...

The shut off screw has a packing to keep it from leaking . You'll want to empty the tank before you remove the screw . But you might try tightening the compression nut around that screw first .

The rack looks like it's from a bicycle .

I can understand that Reese . ;)

You may be able to reach the shaft I replaced mine and even the new one leaked so I found a different supplier for it.

Same here I'm in the boonies myself.

Hey hotrod-
I'm just about 30 miles south of Portland. Where are you? I've got a '49 that I've been trying to complete for a long time, but I'm certainly no expert. Congratulations on your new Simplex.

The evidence says you have a very early '56 model (phelon magneto, straight sided handlebar mounting bracket, and the brake light switch is on top of the frame rail).

Welcome to the group.  This bike looks very similar to one that was for sale in michigan about a year ago.  Do you know any of the history of this bike?

Probably not the same bike then.  If the bike was restored some time back, I'll bet Wollard or Wayne were involved in providing parts.

Again, it's a nice looking bike.  If the motor hasn't been "goofed up", it shouldn't take much to get it purring.  These bikes were never hot rods & back in the day some kids pushed them too hard.  That's why a lot of bikes are missing their original motors.  I think your's still has it's original motor.
