Title: Piston Ring Dimension
Post by: pd on January 08, 2016, 04:55:33 PM
Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the rings that Wayne supplies with his pistons ? I need the depth and thickness measurements .

I ask here in hopes of having to remove my cylinder only once .

After honing my cylinder for more clearance than what was provided by Wayne , I think the ring end gap is likely too much and allowing lower compression . I have some rings that I might be able to use , but ???
If that is a 'no go' , I'll have to contact Wayne .

Thanks .

Pete . :)

I bought a new standard piston and rings from Wayne last I saw him

ring thickness=  .0915
ring depth=.083
ring groove depth=.096

when I squeeze ring together it measures 1.992

Should be able to order next size up of ring no problem to restore a decent gap.

Pete, what is your ring gap?

Thanks , Tom .

Rick ,

I want to say .028". But , it's been 4 months since I measured so ?? I do recall thinking that the gap was way too sloppy . And , the motor doesn't want to start at kick lever RPMs . Only when I use a drill with high RPMs will it fire . That is typical of low compression .
