Title: Rear wheel bearing cup
Post by: dw1973 on September 21, 2013, 05:55:06 AM
One of my rear wheel bearing cups gave out.  I called Wayne for a replacement and the one he sent is different from mine and does not fit.    See pics

Is the new cup too big in diameter?  Post a picture of the old cup and new side by side for comparison.

The first pic shows the new cup next to the one in the hub from the other side.  The new cup is too big and not the the same- it is open ended on one side and the other one in the hub has walls on both sides for the bearings to roll against.

That is the correct cup.  The outer is the dust shield.

Found out what was left of the bearing cup blended right in with the hub.  After some minor grinding it began to move and the new bearing cup fits perfect after removing the partial old cup.

Wondering if I should stock up on cups/dust shields/bearings :-[

Maybe change to roller bearings.  Simplex did this on the later trucks, maybe they were having failures also?
