This bike showed to be a nice example of an original Sportsman. The owner had done some slight restoration work decades back but this bike was generally untouched he said. he had rear wheel repainted years ago proven by the missing pin striping on it. Documented it with photos for this category.

Excellent documentation Tom! I wish we had that when I was trying to figure out how to put my Sportsman back together.

What does the foot peg rubber have imprinted on it ?
I can't see it very well .
Looks like the one side has seen a bit of 'ground work' .
Pete . :)

Bates. I could not find any replacements with the correct center hole when I did mine. I did find a few NOS but wrong size.

What did you end up using ?
I wouldn't think there would be many just laying on a shelf , somewhere .

i used the ones I had. They were better than the ones in the picture, I just cleaned them up.

OK .
Probably not enough Sportsman around to warrant a mold for them either .

I should have asked this guy if he thought the gas caps had ever been changed. Just like my Sportsmans. I have been told some Sportsman may have come with them.

They are different than the Stant type on the M models . Have you ever found them available ?

I seem to remember Ernie telling me those were original to the Sportsman. I think they were also used on the Cushman Eagle.

Carpenter Cushman part 806951 looks like the one to me.
