Title: Picked up a 52 today!
Post by: relic on August 14, 2014, 07:18:22 AM
Picked up a 1952 today completely disassembled the engine too, the worst part about it is that the crash bars are bent pretty hard and that flat piece of metal that comes off the goose neck to hold the seat was broke and replaced and not repaired correctly...I can't imagine hitting something so hard on one of theses bikes that you bend the crash bars 2-3 inches! Ouch!! Lol! I may just use it for parts not sure yet? Everything else is super straight and clean! Notice the original tires with painted on white walls-lol! I know they used to sell that stuff back in the day! You can't even scratch it off with your fingernail? Tough stuff.

Mike I am glad there are guys like you out there that are willing to take on these projects and breathe new life into them.  I am simply amazed at the magic you perform when looking at the finished product.

Mike, I bet you could straighten that crash bar out!  Time to use the heat wrench.  I straightened a front end that was bent back so far from ramming a curb that the movable forks and non-movable forks were touching each other and locked the fronted up.

Hi Relic,
Considering the outstanding job you did on the last bike and the relatively short time it took.
I bet this one will be on the road sooner than anyone thinks.
You just don't strike me as a man to let something go to seed.
Good lick on your new project.
Cheers
Stafford

It's possible that someone else hit the bike rather than the bike running into something.

Send us your frame & motor number so we can add it to the list.
