i kinda want to try the TAV2 route, considering it is cheaper. It sounds like the Jackshaft assembly through Wayne would be between $300-400..... is there a cheaper alternative? i don't mind the $200 price tag, but it sounds like everyone is recommending a jackshaft set up.

Looking for the top speed of a Simplex using a Harbor Freight predator 212cc engine using the stock rear sheave.  Also if anyone has this setup but using a Whizzer sheave.

Thanks!

Wheels & Tires / new source for tires

I like the look of the simplex tires available through Summit racing.  I'm trying to check what the width was on the original tires. I found a site that sells something that looks very appropriate for a Servi Cycle. Please check the link and let me know what you think.

might be worth a shot for $50 a tire.

Anybody have an original or aftermarket wheel sheave they can part with?  I know they're like Hens teeth, but it's worth a shot.

Not even close. I'm still buying pieces here and there. i'm gonna go with the HF212 predator and probably a torq a verter. the jack shaft set up is quite a bit more than i wanted to spend. adding Waynes kick start for it too. i'm trying to get her back on the road and building my wifes 1948 safti cycle too. all that on top of a wife who is 36 weeks pregnant and living in hellish so cal... can't wait to retire and get out of this hellhole.

Frame, Tank, Seat, Controls, Etc / Re: seat fix for bigger men

Could I use these? I was planning on welding them on the frame and offset the base of the springs. Basically the same setup as yours, but utilizing the frame. I'm a big boy too, 6 ft 3, 300 lbs.

Great to know. Ya I think I have the title of biggest Simplex owner. 6'3" and a hair over 300 lbs (working on getting back into the 250s) but i got my first Simplex in May and sold it to buy a frame to build. Now I have a 52 Simplex and a 1948 Safti Cycle. Can't very enough of classic American motor bikes.

Thanks Carryall, honestly though; after seeing your green bike.... i like the exposed jackshaft set up... i think i'll do the same... i left a message with Wayne... my list is getting quite long with him: Jackshaft kit, front fender, headlight, rear rack... haha.
