Title: What year is my cycle - New project ?
Post by: logic2 on May 14, 2013, 02:32:44 PM
Hello, I'm new to this board and I've been restoring cars/trucks for quite some time but this is the first servi-cycle I've ever seen, not to mention try to restore.  I actually rescued it from being taken to the salvage yard and performed the following:

Disassembled, Sanded and Painted
Reassembled
Rebuilt Motor - Restored and painted (Looks and RUNS GREAT)
Wheels and bearings appear to be in great shape.
New Tires

Need to replace bearings in centrifugal clutch
Need to find a kick start enclosure (I've been starring engine with electric motor and 3/4" socket)

Note sure about the year and model of my bike or the estimated value, but I might consider selling it.

Engine #'s:  M23O65B  and I have the original Simplex aluminum tag.

Thanks for any information  ;D

Welcome Mike.  Your motor is newer than your bike.  At first glance the bike looks to be a '47/'48, but the motor was built during the '56 model run.

You'll get lots of looks & questions from people as not many people remember the Simplex.

It's faster than the speed of dark :)

Anyone have an idea about the model or year of my bike ?
Are there any design or style features that indicate a particular span of years that this cycle could have been built ?

Thanks for the welcome
