Overhall?

Hi I have 1957 Automatic Scooter. I have had it running but not as well  it could. It runs best when cold. after warmed up not as much power and seems to flood. I have put a new condenser in cleaned carb, spark is good. Any Ideas ? grandpajoe

Will it restart after it is warmed up?  It sounds like you may be running too rich.

Agree that it sounds like too much fuel.  Is the choke cable able to completely open the choke blade?  Is the float set correctly (If I remember, I think these carbs can benefit from a slightly "low" setting)?  Another possibility is an air leak at the carb gasket or compression plate after it warms up, but not as likely.

What does the plug show? If it is darkened perhaps it is too rich on fuel.  Any good running engine begins with good compression.  Do a compression test when the engine is cold and record it.  Then run the engine until it is completely warmed up and do a compression test then.  Record that.  Then squirt a  shot of regular oil in the spark plug hole and roll the engine over once or twice right after that test and recheck the compression.  Ieeeeedf the compression reading comes up significantly the rings are losing their charm.  If not, I would indeed say the problem lies within the carburetion.
