Title: Hello from Canada
Post by: Mattysmith on March 04, 2016, 05:55:13 AM
Hey guys, I got this thing a few years ago at an auction.
Got the rolling chassis with two rear wheels, it had a bicycle rim ont he front with original hub.
The plan is to get it back moving again with a semi automatic engine. Sort of a resto mod if you will. (I haven't found a suitable drive train yet, but I'm sure something will come up.
I've been slowly working away at getting things moving again. Front suspension was completely seized, and one broken spring (I'm looking for replacements if anyone has any ideas)
I don't plan on painting the bike as I think the maroon/purple colour with the patina looks to lovely to hide.
I'll post pics as I go

Great wealth of information here guys!

I have not been able to find a number on the frame yet. I plan on doing some reading on here tonight to see if I can decipher what year it is. I'm assuming it's somewhere in the 50's.....ish

That is an automatic frame.  There will be a number up underneath the steering neck.  It may be hard to read, so lay the bike on its side and have a flashlight handy.

There is no chance it is a 1949-1952.  The frame has a dogleg in the backbone, those only can out with the automatic in 1953.

I know Gary wrote 1949-1961 on that sheet, but I don't think Simplex produced any Servi-Cycles after 1960, and even than, only a few hundred in the last year.

Found my frame number.   07509
Judging my the pictures of the different seat mount, spring and tank configurations. I must be a fairly late model bike.

I've been working on a seat for this thing this past week. I'll post a new thread in that section. check it out and lemme know whatcha think.

Cheers
Matt
