Wheels & Tires / Front axle nut specs?
« on: October 19, 2013, 04:02:13 PM »
Hello, Can anyone give me the measurements for the front axle nuts, wrench size & turned down round diameter and thickness that fits into the fork. I need to turn a few up on the lathe. I believe the threads are 26TPI. Thanks, Gary

Tank is held up against the top frame by brackets pushing up on the bottom seam.

I don't know if my light switch cable control is factory. I suspected it was. Where was the choke control on a 48 ? Mine has no cable and choking it puts your fingers in a precarious position.

My 48 has that switch hooked to a cable that goes up to the "dash". Center position is lights off. One way is lights on high other is lights on low.

I figured on using a spacer. After they arrive I can determine if they are thick enough to turn down one side a bit.

I don't know, but maybe a generator bracket for a bicycle??

Thank you for that ad. That is probably who made them. I still have to fab up a brush bracket for them.

Anyone seen these before. They are on my 48 Servi-Cycle. No brush plate, so I will have to make up one. There are two of the spoke light assemblies each with two bulbs. I don't think I will be able to find an original. Gary

Thanks Guys, The saddle bags have "US" embossed under the center buckle. They were probably Army bags. I have seen them a few times at auctions. They are in pretty fragile condition. I won't want to use them. I hope to find some better ones someday. Unfortunately the previous owner is in a nursing home. I gleaned what info I got from his neighbor that grew up with him and rode the bikes with him in the 50's. I also got a Servi-Cycle rolling frame, 1948 Whizzer and 1950 Barrel spring Cushman Eagle from his estate. I will be busy for a long time!

Thanks, 1958 NY plate. The old guy that had this owned it since the early 1950's
