Engine & Transmission / Crank stuffers

So are these in order as early, mid, and late.  Never seen the middle one before.  It is my favorite though as it is most like my reproduction!

Photo Gallery / As it was
« on: April 20, 2020, 03:15:59 PM »
Here is a photo of my '48 when my friend Johnny first found it in Mississippi. Late 80s.  The guy there wanted to keep the saddlebags and took them off.  Would have loved to had those!  The bike was complete less the tail light lens.  This picture is from a polaroid snapshot so shows aging.

Other Things Simplex / Trip to Lloyd's

Unfortunately I did more looking than picture taking.  Not like me!  But my heart was racing!  Here's a few.

Picture those banana boxes times 10. The cupboards above them full.  A one-car  garage out back with as many frames and some complete rides as you can stuff in it! Plus stuff hanging in rafters above where these photos were taken.

Place where photos were taken is a three car garage but each separate doors.

Off Topic / Hammer
« on: March 29, 2020, 09:57:32 AM »
Just a little story for ya's.  I made this hammer while in high school.  They offered Machine shop I  and Machine shop II. This was while in shop I. My dad had the same class and same instructor 30 years prior.  He had also made this hammer and some where through my growing up it turned up missing.  (must have been my brother!).  While in shop class the instructor was super cool and would let me work on my own projects then would grade them so I could earn an honest grade. But in this case I did end up making the required project to give to my dad on his birthday. This hammer had several different operations to learn such as turning, knurling, threading and milling the flats then also grinding them for experience on a surface grinder. The handle was drilled out to offer balance.

I had kept a photo copy of the blueprint but just recently doctored it up a bit and turn it back to blue.

Also made a bench grinder from a casting.  I now have my own plus my Dad's.  Kind of convenient because I can keep different wheels on them.

Brochures and other Literature / 1936 brochure
« on: March 24, 2020, 05:55:20 PM »
I have had this brochure  for sometime but don't think I ever posted it.  I believe it to be a late '36 as now I am finding out the early ones had quite a flare on the rear fender down low.  This is a bi-fold brochure and measures about 3 1/2 X 9  when folded.

This is a tri-fold brochure but smaller than others.  Measure  3 1/2"  X 6" when folded.  Looks like model K specs.  So maybe mid-'49..

Other Things Simplex / Tear drop lens

While at Lloyds' he mentioned he had the original mold for the tail lights.  My reply,  " I've got to see it!".  It was a heavy block of steel but he was willing so we got it down off the shelf.   It was a match!

This was a priviledge for me to see!    1935  #20  This was Norm Burtons.  Lloyd Andrews was very accommodating and allowed me to look at any and everything I wanted.

Brochures and other Literature / 1960 Scooter
« on: March 02, 2020, 02:27:39 AM »
Who says a 1960 didn't ever exist!!  This was published in the May 1959 issue of Scooter magazine.  Zooming on the upper picture a horizontal cylinder can be seen. Plus the article boasts a swing arm.  The fuel tank has been moved to another location.
