Yes that is a stainless steal wielding wire for a tig wielder and it releases to make it work. Well that's the way I got it to work. Don't know it its right but hey it looks right.

Mike, I saw a red bike with its covers painted and thought it gave it a nice flair. The foot control I speak of and may be calling it by the wrong name, it is the device the mounted on the left side that's controls the pulley that controls the speed. I am thinking of putting a grinder to the blue one to reveal its number.

Ok the frames I have is #1 is 01277 is in good shape I may restore it someday #2 is just like #1 but where the number should be there's no plate there and never was. #3 is 90990 a good frame has attachments for the foot control and that is how I'm thinking of going with it. #4 the number is covered by the powdercoated but looks like #3 frame style but has no pedal attachment and break switch just behind engine. Here's a photo hope it helps.

This is my for what I call a 58 custom for it started with a engine, trans or clutch, frame, two old seats, and a some rim. Everything else I pick up from all over the country. I did try a different route with the paint this bike is almost 100% powdercoated even the hand crafted lettering on the tank. Now if I could get one of these photos on my profile I would be good.

Engine & Transmission / flooding problem
« on: March 13, 2012, 04:42:17 PM »
:'(  Hi I'm new here but I've been around simplex bikes my whole life. I built a 58 model or at least I call it a 58 custom.  My engine was one that was giving to my father some 20+ years ago. When I got it with a bolt or two to hold it down and a shot of fuel after carb was brush out it ran fine on the ground. But after 18 months of mail ordering and driving many miles to get parts, its finished . It even ran several test starts once assembled . Then when I'm going to show it off to my brother and ride with him on his, its starts flooding the engine block with fuel. I've cleaned the carb several times reset the points polished the coil facing  but nothing helps . It won't run very well and the engine will almost fill up with gas. I even reset the carb adjustments to what the the manual said several times but no luck. Anybody have a clue what could be wrong. And as soon as I can get the picture thing figured out I will post a photo soon.
