coil

Picked this up!  The coveted(in my book) double wound Simplex coil! Tests ok on both outputs.  Then I can sleep at night knowing both plugs are hitting again.   Yay!!

To have an original over a replacement means a lot to me when I made every effort to maintain that with my 48.  Plus Waynes replacements are $50 anyhow.  I have wondered if the Maytag twin coil is the same thing(looks like it) and ,if so,  that guy is  selling them on Ebay for $150.

Tom ,

That Maytag coil is not the same . It looks to me as if there are two separate coils stacked . Not dual winding's in the same core .

The Maytag coil :

Your Wico coil :

And , agreed , authenticity is worth more .

I had thought about trying the ones sold on eBay, but the guy that makes them wasn't sure they would work on the simplex.

No I did not.  I have a NOS coil I bought on eBay several years ago pretty cheaply.

Maybe just camera angle , but the Maytag coil looks like it might be a bit taller than the Wico .
