Here are some pictures from portland. I had a great time, wish I could have stayed longer!

some none stock and I thought this one was a little pricey for as incomplete as it was:

Here is Wayne Mahaffey with his scooter, wish I had one of these. The blue one is owned by an older woman, she rides it all the time. It is powered by an 8hp electric start motor and runs really sweet.
The last one is a safti-cycle, pretty neat. The gentleman that had this one had 3 more in various states of disrepair.

GREAT PICTURES, THANKS. DID YOU SEE ANY RESTORED FOR SALE.
THANKS JOHN GRAHAM 225-921-9989

The maroon simplex automatic with the awards plaque laying on the footboard was for sale for $5500. The guy claimed it scored a 98 at an AMA show. It was pretty nice, but was listed as a 1950, so an auto would not be correct for the year.
I didn't hear the bike run, so I don't know the condition of the engine, but assuming it runs good, the price seems about right.

Great Pics!!! Some nice looking Bikes. Glad you got a shot of one with a 5hp motor in it, as thats what Im going to be going with.
-
Chainmaker, I have some more I'll post in the next couple of days. There were quite a few running 5-6.5 hp honda clones, all with slightly different drive arrangements.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for posting some great pictures! You didn't by chance take some pictures of the drive train setup on the non-stock models did you? Just curious on how they did it.

Mike, I didn't take any close-ups of the drive but here is what I took.

Here are some of the cushmans:
-
Too military cushmans, one with a parachute.
-
This simplex automatic scooter had a honda motor, and I'm not sure what this other thing was?
-
And for the high dollar types, a couple of salsbury scooters
-
And lastly, a reproduction Servi-cycle with fiberglass tank and fenders. I wasn't really my style, as is has too much lights and stuff on it:

What a great bunch of photos. Thanks so much Rick. The fellow with the Simplex 3 wheeler takes that bike to all of the shows and generally rides it around. When John Cubine was building the repo Simplex bikes he complained that federal laws required him to put the lights on. Front and rear and turn signals and front and rear brakes so they would pass a safety inspection.

The fellow with the simplex truck is Bob Legron. Really nice guy, we talked for a couple of hours over the 3 days I was there. He wrote the section on the simplex scooters in Gary Wollard's book about simplex. He is a wealth of information as is Bob Kerr from Oklahoma, who I also met there. The other 2 trucks belong to Jim Lokai, they are semi-original, but do not have the correct drives in them as they were missing when he acquired them.
