I think I saw that bike at Portland this summer.  I think he was looking to get $1000 for it at the VMBC show.

  Betcha It's an old Zundapp !    metric screw sizes  ( or 26 tpi british standard cycle )  would  tell the country of origin ,   ( certainly servicycle influenced )   Interesting enigma .

It also looks like a 1946-48 James ML excepthe brake is on the left side.

Glad to see someone start a new Simplex site.  The old Simplex Collectors site just quit.
I own 3 Simplex Motorcycles:1948 I just completed restoration, 1953 basket case,1956 Restored currently in a museum. I also restored a James ML and a 1954 Triumph Terrier.

Ya, I remember seeing that bike at Portland also.  I think our new guy Van told me he had one of these when he was a kid.
