I don't know how many people on here know it, but Wayne is a drag racer from way back when. He ran gasser and Funny car.
He still tunes for a guy out of the south, in Pro Mod In believe.
The Alabamian was a rear engined funny car that only ran a couple of times, as Wayne had a bad wreck, and the car was totaled.
The Super Goldenrod was a gasser that Wayne match raced during the 1960's to 70's.
I believe Wayne won 2 Wally's during NHRA competition.

I had no idea .
I use to drag race my Kawasaki 500 triple that I did fairly well with , but that's a different world than what Wayne raced .

Pete, I was hanging with Wayne one night last year in Portland, about 9:00 pm his phone rings. The team he works with was racing and Wayne was tuning the motor for them over the phone. Never did find out how they made out.

That takes a well trained ear and knowledge , of course .

I remember the "Goldenrod" from back in the day and now know why Wayne's name sounded so familiar, and yes that level of racing was way above my own at the drags. Glad you brought it to our attention. Rick C.

They were giving him the data off the computer. Drag racing these days is hi-tech.

Of course , it has to be for competition sake .
Maybe I'm stuck in the good ol' days when any decent mechanic would tune by ear . ;)
