Don't know yet. I'm remodeling the house and Janet is supposed tentatively to have hip surgery sometime in July. Not sure if I can get away. Would really like to come see everyone. If not there's always next year. Bob

Rick, That red really pops. Going to be another beautiful restoration. You've already set the bar so high it's what we've come to expect from you. Keep on what your doing. Hope they have Portland where we can see it in person. Bob

Engine & Transmission / Re: Crankshaft identification

Hey guys, We were looking at a couple of cranks. The one Wayne rebuilt with a new shaft does have a slightly larger hole. Looks like this is because of the cutter used to hollow out the valve and end of the crank. Question, Will the larger hole create more suction or less? If it creates more it should run a bit better on fuel transfer. Anyone have an idea which runs better or if there is any difference at all. Bob

One of the most memorable experiences of Portland was meeting and getting to talk with Bob. What a great guy! It was truly an honor to be able to listen to his stories and learn about his knowledge of the Simplex. We lost a lot of history and knowledge with him. He will be missed. Bob

Rick, The 39 looks sad maybe a new home would make it feel better. Hope they still have Portland. I understand their supposed to make a decision sometime in June. Anxiously waiting to see what happens. I'm sure the 55 will look as awesome as the rest of your projects have been. Hope all you northern guys are safe unaffected by the virus and everything is going well. Bob

Hey Tom, This isn't like the one I bought. Mine is a regular horizontal shaft motor just line on the servi-cycle. But with a full aluminum cover instead of being open. Next time I'm at storage I will take a pic and post it. This appears to be a vertical shaft model like a lawnboy. I've never seen one of these before now. Bet it cuts real nice.

These are cool. I talked to Treen's son right after I bought this. They went to the Schwinn factory and found out they couldn't compete in the market place with their bikes so production was cancelled. There were both boys and girls models prototyped and sent to select dealers to see if there was any interest. Not many were actually put into production. There was actually another model made with the regular servi-cycle front end and fenders. I've only seen 2, the one I own and a restored one, also a girls model, in Texas for sale.

Hey guys, I bought the one Jim had. It was a girls model. would like to find a boys model. The kick stand is regular bicycle as are the wheels. Notice the inset picture. the pedal and crank assembly is on top of the frame instead of integrated into the frame like all other bicycles. Front fork is unique also. I'll post some pictures. Bob

Hey guys, Don't know if you can trust the officials. But, on the back of the VMBC latest magazine it has the dates of Portland as July 29th thru Aug 1st. I figure Tue thru Sat will be good as usual. Bob
