Title: got some engine parts
Post by: Bruce on January 03, 2014, 05:43:44 AM
Kens on his way home with a few crates of engines in pieces.   Far as I can tell he got  alum blocks and cylinders and some iron ones...and most of the rest of the stuff. Maybe we can salvage an engine out of it all. I'll post pics in a bit

If you get any single spark plug aluminum cylinders, let me know.

How much snow did you get?

We got about 10-12 inches so far, and it is still falling.

Sounds like you guys found a nice stash of parts .

We're here in balmy Long Beach . It's clear with a temperature of 37.5 °F . NO snow , thankfully . It's suppose to get all the way up to 45°F this afternoon .

I guess they weren't lying when they said it would be the coldest Winter in a long time . :(

You don't see that many flywheels together any more, Nice find. If you find you don't need all those kick starters, let me know, I could use two of them.

The guy selling the trailer in Florida had it all.. Ken stopped in and grabbed a few parts and this stuff... It wasn't expensive ,I think ken paid $200 for the pile.

I hope y'all bought all the motor parts you could find. If not quick go back and get the rest of them we could always use extra motor parts. 8)

Yes....its all he had....he wasn't interested in vintage engine parts..I think the frames he has take the Hondas etc...he has 6 of those reproduction frames and forks.... Bought out someone.

. Are the kick starters all the same? There was one with the orig sportsman ken bought and a few in this pile I think...no matter what's done I think 2 is more then he'd use.
Few things we are looking for still.....front fender and curved braces and hafta buy or copy a rear rack. Need one good tank too.

The sportsman kick starter is unique to that model.  The other ones are interchangeable, I think the only difference is the early models are curved and the later are straight.

Bruce, could you email me the engine numbers on the M cases?

I'm lookin for an original kicker also, I like the looks of the original better than the one Wayne sells. Let me know if you have any extras you want to part with. I don't think I have anything you are looking for, but I have a couple rear brake hubs, a bolt on rear wheel sheave.

Sorry, after investigating, I only have the rear wheel, ( narrow) w/o spokes, I had to use the sheave on my 2" rim. I do have some curved front fender braces that I got from Kartjockey, but I don't have the whole fender. Both of my fenders have been bobbed.

I'm interested in the braces and a pic of the bobbed fenders

racie35, I'm interested in 1 of the straight kickers if I can afford it, the only fenders I have are the ones on mike bike, I didn't realize they were bobbed til Rick showed me in Portland last year.Somebody has cut the front half of the curved braces off. I think I'm gonna leave it that way for a while til I can find some stock fenders. I do have another pair of the curved braces that kartjockey gave me, I'll try to get some pics posted later.
