After talking with Wayne few weeks ago, he sent me a kick start adapter to "check out". Sorry I didn't get a picture of it when it was on the bike, but it was a fairly simple install. The plate with shaft installs between the motor mount plate and engine. It comes with a gear that replaces the flywheel nut and a return spring for the kick starter also. Works very nice. At the present time, I decided to stay with my present set-up, but may possibly pick one up in the future. Anyone interested can contact Wayne with questions and price. Here's picture of it tho...

To add to the above, Wayne is charging $220 for the kick start kit. He is trying to send me more photo's to post and I will get them up when he gets them to me.
On a different note, I wonder if this can be adapted to the GC series motors?

The charging system is easy. Tons of parts for sale on eBay to do this.

That's a cool kickstarter, but 200 bucks is a lot of money to couple to a 99 dollar motor.....
BTW, just back from several days in Chicago as my daughter just had her first child. I already have an electric powered Indian motorcycle waiting for him to grow into!

I realize Wayne has time and money invested in his kick start adapter, and appreciate his allowing me to "check it out" and give him my feedback on it. But I couldn't justify the cost of buying it for my bike because like you said Mike, $200 starter for a $90 engine was hard to justify considering the pull start works just fine and doesn't really take away from the "look" of the bike (IMHO anyways). It'll make it on my Christmas list tho.

IMO, the kickstart just looks right on a motorbike. When I get to a conversion bike. I will try to adapt Wayne's starter to the GC series motors. I will also strip all the tin off and find something to work that looks closer to the simplex flywheel cover.

Bruce, look at the picture just above. That is why I need to figure out a way to make it work with the GC series motors! I'd bet most people wouldn't know that wasn't a simplex motor.

I agree...that GC looks great in these...shouldn't be hard placing the kick really...its a distance thing...and if the engines offset to either side you may need a z bar of sorts (offset kick gear)...I'll bet it is very doable for the GC guys

Since the replacement engines were designed for stationary applications, the tin and flywheel are designed for cooling purposes. In a motorbike application, could a guy get away with removing the tins & cutting the fins off the flywheel? A more compact flywheel cover could then be fashioned.

Most of these flywheels don't have any fins. The fins are a separate plastic piece; just leave them out.

The exception would be the addition of a performance aluminium flywheel, which is highly recommended for any motor that runs without a governor. A motor running over 3600rpm has the potential to explode when modified.

Yes you can buy a flywheel for the 212 with charging magnets and the charging coil too...I'll find the link again

Maybe, but as far as I could find, the taper on the Predator crankshaft is different than on the Honda clones. I could not find the PROPER flywheel with charging magnets for a Predator 212. A clone flywheel can be forced on, from what I have read, but is definitely NOT correct.
I would return that Predator and buy a Honda clone, and start from there. I have seen flywheels and charging coils available for the clones on eBay for as little as $40.

You may want to check with some of the go-cart and mini-bike websites. (OMB for instance) From what I understand, the predator motors have gone thru a couple of changes in the past year and now include more interchangeability in parts with the Hondas.

Not a bad price at all. I wish it had been available when I bought the starter kit for my harbor freight. One advantage with the starter kit is the higher output for the lights. Bad part is mounting a battery (room). Hanen't quite got that far yet.

I don't own one, but I have ridden and looked at one. It works exactly the same as stock. If the spacing isn't correct, the gear does not fully mesh correctly, just like a stock Simplex. If the gear doesn't mesh fully, you wear out the pinion gear really quickly.

I put one on my bike from wayne, and it is really simple and works great so far.

Here is another pic of Wayne's kickstart kit for the HF engine. I am building a replica 1911 Indian board track racer with the engine mounted vertically. I will need to do some fabrication to adapt Wayne's kickstarter, but it was easier than starting from scratch.

I bought the engine from Sportsman Flyer Motorbikes. Rich, (owner Pat Dolan's brother), builds custom engines. They make the intake and supply Mikuni carbs, Correctly set up Bulley centrifugal clutches, exhaust, upgraded heads etc. The HF engine block has acceptable quality, (compared to Honda), so I had him upgrade the valve train and install a Black Mamba cam. The stock HF valve springs are mush. My "customer experience" was miserable with them but they do good quality, but expensive, work.

Sometimes the intake can be mounted either in a forward or rear facing direction depending on what is in the way.

Although I made my own performance intake manifold, the issue (both mine, and any aftermarket one) is, that they make the air filter stick straight out from the carb, which is something that I wanted to address because of 2 things. First, it was more personal aesthetics. I thought it stuck out too far, and looked "out of place" and attracted attention to itself. Secondly, it somewhat interfered with easy foot placement for the kick start I installed. Thought I'd just post a pic of the 90 degree elbow solution I chose, for others to consider, if interested. (note: my 35mm intakes slightly different than normal aftermarket)

Maybe if you oil the filter with green oil it might 'fade' in a bit and look even less obtrusive .
But , I suppose you could take your pick : " Klotz is red, Amzoil is green, Stihl oil is bright green, Echo oil is gold, Husqvarna oil is blue.
Stihl says their green oil is 80%biodegradable in 21 days " ... if you're into that kind of thing . ;)

Cant oil this filter. It would restrict air flow too much. Even the foam pre-filter element I used to have on it, was to restrictive at WOT. I had considered making a cap/cover for it but not sure, now that it's moved. (the green spray paint cap I put on for comparison I didn't much like.)

First off, that color is HIDEOUS, LOL, not to mention, that filter is WAY bigger than the one I'm using. I like the way it looks now, and the small size of the chrome filter, blends in well with the other chrome and S.S accompanying it, (acorn nuts, the chrome kick starter lever, throttle and brake rod linkage, etc....) This pic showing more the surrounding area puts it in better perspective....although pics don't due justice to how shiny paint and chrome actually is? there must be a setting on my camera that reduces glare automatically.

That filter is pretty small .
And , yeah , it doesn't really look all that bad .
I was just tossing the colored oil out there as those filters are normally oiled .
I'm curious . Have you tried or thought about a filtered velocity stack ?

Now I wasn't saying to use those filters they were samples like this one that was smaller. 331395506030 I'm just saying there may be a filter out there in the color you need. Shoot I've been looking for one like I run and found several last night on a fluke. The ones I posted were found in just the first search I attempted so the right one may be just a click away. You see when you say think out of the box to me I'm all ready thinking outside the universe. That's all. 8)

Trust me, I had my watched list FULL of possibilities but opted this route afterward. I originally did make the intake to be a filtered velocity stack but by the time I got it cut down to where it ran best, I ended up changing the carb jetting and exhaust, and then needed even more air. That's what caused me to pull the pre-filter. This filter/elbow is actually sold by a company I've used when doing Honda CT90's (Beatrice cycle) but for an aftermarket adapter, you'd need to measure what size the filter adapter is, and shop from there, or cut your own from a properly sized radiator hose maybe? I believe that most aftermarket adapters are sold with filters with a 2-7/16" I.D.
