Replica servicycle
« on: November 03, 2014, 04:20:14 PM »
This is the replica Servi I picked up a few months back on ebay.

Its running great and has lots of power.

Got the seat done and added dual springs, which works great.

How much does the second spring stiffen the ride ?

I ask because I'm about 165 pounds and my single spring seat seems like it's a little 'bouncy' . Maybe that's because I'm use to shock absorbed riding on more modern bikes .

Pete . :)

Those look like Worksman wheels with dual drum brakes, how do you like them?

Well I think it would be kinda like us bigger guys and a single spring. There would be some movement but mostly a hard uncomfortable ride kinda like sitting on the fender.

I am 265 and the second spring is great. As far as the worksman brakes go... there is no stopping on a dime. You have to plan your braking ahead of time and squeeze for dear life. The shock springs on this bike aren't very good. This bike is heavy by itself. If I push it down on the forks it doesn't want to come up. So I need to find some stiffer springs.

Check for binding in the front rocker pivots.  If they have been over tightened, it will lock up the front end.

Also be sure to grease them well. As far as binding up on over tightening they can't really do that if assembled in the proper order. The nuts should bottom out before they bind up.

Reese, this is not a factory simplex, but a replica.  Anything is possible!

I don't know, but I would guess around 15 lbs heavier, due to the engine and lights.
