Interesting there are two different assembly part numbers.  Might this be the difference of  a two plug coil to a one plug coil?

Tom ,

It looks to me like the difference in the two magnetos was the lighting coils .
Everything else is listed the same for both '56 & '58 years .
Just by the coil #s , maybe higher output coils were used in the later years ( higher # of windings ? ) .

I thought the single plug cylinder didn’t appear until 1959, but I’m am not sure.
