Simplex in Spain on ebay
« on: January 26, 2014, 07:15:50 PM »
Anyone notice that the bike that's on ebay (in Spain) has mid-fifties features, but has an early style fork/handlebar set up.  I wonder if they were made a little different for special export orders, or if somebody just swapped early parts onto it.  I sent the guy a note, asking for the serial numbers.

That bike has been on there for more than a year.  I told him it was an earlier bike, but the note I got back was just a muchas gracias, but no change to the ad.  I  don't think simplex would have gone to the trouble of making a special export model.  Maybe it was a US military bike that got sold for surplus?

I'm not so sure it's an earlier bike.  The foot boards, brake pedal, & fender braces make me think it should have had a dash plate instead of a goose neck.

I think paul would have done anything to make a sale, especially a fleet order.  You do raise a good  possibility of it being a possible GI surplus bike.

I just got the same reply as you Rick......"Yes, OK, Gracias".  I'd say they're not interested in the cause, just the money....

Mike, you are correct.  I didn't look close enough.  Automatic, 2" wheels, aluminum cylinder, and fenders all point to later. I stand corrected!

Maybe he cant read English and doesn't know any better. Besides he has some cool bikes for sale. Way too high priced but neat bikes. Check out the snow bike.

How about a link to it.
I can't find it on eBay.
