Speigel also sold Simplex cycles thru their catalog.  Here are 1954 and 1955 catalog pages.

Here is the 1957 Simplex price list and spec sheets.  Note that the "Standard" model is now discontinued.  Also, a speedometer is now available for the first time since WWII.

Here is a 1954 catalog sheet from Western Auto, with the Wizard Automatic.  I understand they only sold them for a couple of years.  The bike isn't mine, but there is a maroon Wizard in town.

Simplex sent out mailers to prospective buyers in 1957 that included color cards for the Automatic and the new Scooter and Sportsman models.

Here is a copy of the announcement for the Model 70 Truck.  I understand they made only one of these.

These were made from 1950-53.  I've never seen a complete mower, just one "industrial" engine.

I also have a can of "Simplex oil".  Looks virtually the same.  No idea which came first.

I found this interesting.

1972 Simplex ad.  One of their later ads, prior to the closing of the company approx 1975.  1971 minis had flat fenders, 1972 had rounded fenders.  The 20 spoke wheels are hard to find.

You can find info on your P-48 and the red C-47 at www.usscootermuseum.com.  The original paint on your P-48 was black wrinkle finish.  You are missing the side shields.  The luggage rack originally had a spring suspension.  The oil tank for the dry sump engine is located on the floor board.  Rare and fast scooters.  Note that the lights are powered thru the ground lead from the ignition coil.  That's why the 3 position ignition switch.
