Post by: george k on November 26, 2014, 03:54:36 PM
Hello from Sarasota, Fl II

I just picked up this I think 1948 + / _ and need some help with locating some parts. Head Lamp, Rear Rack and a motor, but the one it has on it runs good. I would like to find something more original.
any suggestions ???

Well it's all in how you want to go with it. Back to stone cold original or a newer engine free of breakdowns or minium down time. It looks fairly complete just needs some tweeking.

That is in pretty good shape .

OEM motors can be had . They show up on ebay from time to time . I'm not sure , but I believe Wayne has a few .

Well its not a 48, look under the neck and see if there's a number?

Actually It's a 7hp Tecumseh motor 2-s

I'm pretty sure it's not a '48. It has a flat brake pedal and the '48 had the round peg, the crash bars look like they bend down slightly from where they attach under the frame until they downturned on a '48 they ran flat out to the downturn.
Does the tank have dual gas caps?

Yea I thought it may be a 2 stroke by the way it was leaning south a bit. That engine would be fine with a kick starter and a better exhaust pipe. How about some photos of the other side.  ;D

According the registry , 08249 makes it , most likely , a 1954 model .
