Welcome Sarge. I found a Famous James that was in same condition as you described. I told a friend of mine about how it was rusted and froze up. He was an old farmer and ask if I knew how to unfreeze? I of course went through several ways I have used over the past. He replied Nope, water caused the problem and water will fix the problem. I thought he was nuts when he told me to totally submerge the bike frame in my water trough. He said leave it two weeks and pull out and see if things didn't loosen up. I would have lost a $100.00 betting it wouldn't work. It did. It began to move and I put back in until the next weekend when I came in and tried again. The handlebars moved, springer, and both wheels. At this point I blew all areas free of water and heavily oiled the areas. I know it sounds out of reach but it worked for me. You might try it and best of all ,it's cheap.

Acetone, MEK, and lacquer thinner will all attack the foam. Wear rubber gloves of course.

To begin with i am as bad taking pictures as i am posting them. In 1996 i guess i decided to build my 6 year old a mlnl bike. It kind of got out of hand and this is what i built. I actually started the co.plete build around a simplex frame and tank that i had. Once i started building i realized the simplex was much too big so i hand built my frame from black pipe from home depot. I didnt like the single cylinder look of a briggs motor. A friend had a xr100 that i fabbed a fake cyclinder to the back of the cases. I built the front end, frame, rear fender, handlebars. The front wheel is from a mopad and rear was a 8"from i believe was asmall honda. I built all thr forward controls and exhaust system. I sold the bike at one time and it went to California then found it again in Austin texas. It will never be for sale agin. I gave to my son to have if he every has kids.

Could I get a list of people who have used the GC 160 Honda motor. I would like to talk with you on your problems if any. I would like pictures also if you have any, especially on the converter side. RickS shot me a few pictures on a PM. Looks like some are using a differential cover from a car as a flywheel cover. Thanks All

Rick, I am lucky I guess. The GC160 I bought has a straight shaft so I am assuming it will work. I am also assuming the plate kit and torque converter Wayne sells will work. How about the kick starter? Thanks for posting the pictures , it clarified what I was asking.

Dang,i thought this was going to be a fairly cheap build. Over the years i have had few tanks and cut tunnells in them to use on other builds. Never paid over $75.00 for a tank.

I guess some people may call them titles. Are any available? What do you do if you don't get a title with your bike?
