That's what I would think as well. Not being familiar with 2 Strokes, does the Fuel tend to separate if left for some time?Of course on the Jersey Coast we battle with high Humidity too, that in itself lends to everything rusting.

Agree that unless there are lots of flakey rust, don't go overboard.  Just use a good sealer to bind the left over gunk to the surface so it can't get out & clog things up.

Butch it shouldn't take very long to sell that extra tank.

So the Oil mix won't be enough to keep the Tank from rusting again?

Jeff, you should read about the reserve and how it works in one of the manuals posted in the manual section.
I'm not concerned about running reserve. My other Build has no reserve, just remove the Cap & see how much is there. If I do wind up cutting the Tank, maybe I'll leave around a 1/2" of it as a sort of Gusset.

Don't keep the electrolysis on too long it will eat pinhole leaks through the tank. Don't ask me how I know.
I would think that it ate through because there was nothing but Rust in those areas. All the Rust has to be romoved. If I wind up with Holes I'll Tig them shut.

I currently (no pun intended) am in the process of trying to remove the Rust in my Tank through Electrolysis. It's pretty bad,& there is going to be no way for me to know if the Tank on the other side of the Partition gets clean.Depending on how this works, I just might cut the Tank in half, blast it clean & weld it back together.Does the Partition serve any purpose or do you think I can cut that out as well?
