Thank you all for the information on the brake light wiring and switch.  This will be a big help for me since all my wires are cut.

Thank you for the work you do to keep the site free from spam and for giving us a place to discuss Simplexes.

I would also be interested in possibly getting a shirt or two.  I like the idea of the wing on the back.  Just my two cents.

I was wondering what could I expect for speed on an original Simplex?  Late '50s direct drive model.

What Year is my Bike? / Re: How to figure out what year?

The number on the frame is 11852.  The number on the engine is M20130B.  I hope that this information can help figure out what year my Simplex is.

What Year is my Bike? / How to figure out what year?

I have received my dad's Simplex and am wondering if their is a way to determine what year the bike was made.  Unfortunately, I can not ask my dad because he passed away in October of this year.  He had actually told me that I could have the bike to restore 3 days before he passed.  What I do know is that my dad bought the bike brand new in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  It is a direct drive and the gas cap is on the left side of the tank.  I will try to get pictures taken and put on here tonight.  Thank you.

Simplexes with Non-Original Engines / Re: Newbie on board!

I am new to this site so I will start off by saying that I have received a simplex that my dad bought brand new in Grand Rapids, MI.  I am not sure when he bought it but I do know that it was in the mid to late '50's.  The gas cap on my "new" bike is also on the left hand side of the tank.  This confused me because of all the pictures I have seen the cap is either on the right or it has duel caps.  I am glad to know that I am not the only one to have the cap on the left.  Thank you for all the information that you have provided on this site.
